By requesting an estimate, signing an agreement, or using our services, you agree to these terms.
1. Scope of Services
Black Shield Roofing & Construction provides residential and light commercial construction services including roofing, siding, windows, gutters, decks, exterior improvements, and interior renovation work excluding structural foundation repair unless stated in writing.
All project details, pricing, and materials are defined in the written agreement or estimate.
2. Estimates and Agreements
Estimates are valid for 15 days unless otherwise stated.
Pricing may change due to material cost increases, hidden damage, or scope changes.
Work begins only after required approvals, deposits, or insurance confirmations.
3. Payments
Payment terms are defined in your project agreement and may include:
Deposits prior to scheduling
Progress payments during construction
Final payment upon completion
Late balances may be subject to service charges or collection action where permitted by law.
4. Change Orders
Any modification to scope, materials, or timeline must be approved in writing and may affect total project cost and completion date.
5. Customer Responsibilities
You agree to:
Provide safe and reasonable access to the property
Remove valuables or fragile items near work areas
Ensure pets, children, and occupants remain clear of construction zones
Disclose known structural or environmental conditions

Manufacturer warranties apply separately where provided.
Warranty coverage does not include:
Damage from storms, misuse, neglect, or unauthorized repairs
Normal wear and tear

7. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Black Shield Roofing & Construction is not liable for:
Indirect or consequential damages
Delays caused by weather, suppliers, inspections, or events outside our control
Pre-existing property defects or hidden structural issues
8. Communication Consent
By engaging our services, you consent to receive:
Calls, emails, and text messages related to scheduling, service, and project updates
Optional marketing communication where permitted
You may opt out of marketing texts at any time by replying STOP.
9. Dispute Resolution
Any dispute will first be addressed through good-faith direct resolution.
If unresolved, disputes will be handled according to the laws of the State of Iowa.
10. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of Iowa, with service primarily in West Des Moines, Clive, and surrounding communities.

We may update these Terms periodically.
